About the Race

Run for a future in forensics! The Cover Your Tracks Forensics 5K supports the Future of Forensics Scholarship Fund.

But there's more than just a race! Around the Forensics Building, tables will be set up where you can learn what it really takes to build a career in forensic science and meet the real people who work in it day to day, from the science and technology behind the scenes to the skills used in careers inspired by shows like CSI. Don't forget to stay for the Halloween costume contest!

Best Costume: 1st $50, 2nd $30, 3rd $15. You must wear your costume while running!

Participants will receive a race shirt if signed up before 10/10/2026.

Race Awards

1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Male and Female Overall CASH PRIZES: $100, $75, $50.

Awards will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in both the Male and Female categories for each age group.

The fund provides support to students interested in pursuing careers in forensic science, helping make education and career opportunities more accessible to the next generation of forensic professionals.

Rain or shine: the race goes on in any weather. If lightning or severe weather makes it unsafe, the start may be delayed.

No refunds: all registrations are final.

Race-day registration: open on your phone until the race starts.
